OUR MISSION

To enhance women's lives with shoes that look elegant and feel effortless.

ABOUT THE BRAND

We make women's heels, wedges + flats that feel more like running shoes with cushioning, flexibility and support built-in. With a contemporary, slightly sporty aesthetic, the shoes are designed everyday work + travel. The shoes are made in premium, small-scale, family-run factories who align with our values of respect: respect for people, respect for quality and respect for the environment. Launched in February 2013, the brand was voted ‘People’s Pick for Comfort’ in the shoe industry's leading trade publication, Footwear News. Based in Chicago, IL, the shoes are available internationally at chelseajones.com.

THE STORY

Chelsea Jones was working in corporate communications, wearing heels to work everyday. One day she got home (feet throbbing in pain), saw her running shoes at the front door and thought: what if heels could feel more like running shoes? Growing up as an athlete, she craved the cushioning, flexibility and support found in athletic shoes. With this spark of an idea, she started sketching, researching and discussing with other women.

As her drawings and plans came together, she wanted to figure out where to get prototypes made. Many calls and emails went unanswered. She happened to see an ad for a footwear materials show in Portland, Oregon (the home of athletic shoes) and decided right then to book a trip. Stepping into the show, surrounded by big brands, she took her drawings and determination and went for it. By the end of that day, she met a footwear agent who helped setup her first factory tours, which led to starting the first prototypes and eventually shoes.

With many, many steps since that day, the best part has been going from drawing, to prototype, to seeing the shoes in action on women's feet. Launched in February 2013 in the USA and Canada, the designs have been tried, tested and tweaked to create what you see today: the look of a high heel, the feel of a running shoe.
